The Metro-North train station in Mamaroneck is the second -oldest surviving train station on the New Haven Line. Built in 1888 in the Romanesque style, the station has always been a landmark, albeit an vacant landmark. The station itself fell into disrepair and was boarded up for what seemed like decades. So last year, I was thrilled to learn that it was being rebuilt to make room for an upscale restaurant. “The Club Car” opened in March of 2012 and today was the first time I actually had some time to preview the end result. I actually didn’t have time to stop by for a meal, but decided to take a few pictures of the exterior. The photo above, does not show the entire structure, but emphasizes the architectural detail that is often oh sooooooo missing in modern architecture.
The photo was done in HDR to bring out the architectural details. It was a cloudy day, but that seems to have brought out the vividness of the red brick.
