I took this photo last year at dusk in Carlson’s Greenhouse in White Plains. There was something about the dark blue light coming into the greenhouse against the poinsettia plants that I really liked. To me it was kind of symbolic of the winter solstice and the fact that the days were going to start getting longer.
Today is the winter solstice and I had planned to take some photos at dusk, but the stormy sky kind of got in the way. It happens like that. The shots that you plan for in advance sometimes don’t work out. So I’m putting this one up instead because there is something about a room full of poinsettias on the shortest day of the year!
