It’s a beautiful Sunday and if some of you are interested in taking in a bit autumn, here is a suggestion from me to you. You might want to visit St. Mary’s Episcopal church on Route 9 in Briarcliff Manor.
Sometimes you just happen to come across something. Last Sunday was an equally beautiful day and I had two shoots to attend to, one in White Plains and the other in Croton-on-Hudson. I decided to take the scenic route home along Route 9 and saw this church literally awash in pumpkins. Fortunately, they hadn’t closed up shop for the day and I found myself enjoying the Pumpkin Patch which is used to raise money for community outreach. I bought a couple of small pumpkins an found myself wandering around taking photographs.
A very kind parishioner gave me access to the sanctuary where I was able to take a few very low-light photos. I didn’t have flash along with me that day but I was able to get some pretty decent hand-held shots by increasing the ISO on my Canon. The photo above is from the exterior of the church and I will have more photos posted later.
Meanwhile, I hope everyone gets out to enjoy the day and the season. Westchester NY is almost certainly Halloween Central, particularly along the western corridor. The Washington Irving influence being what it is! And remember that any pumpkin purchase at St. Mary’s puts money to work right back into the local community.
