One of the things about living in Westchester is that NYC and all it has to offer is so very close. Westchester may have Stone Barns, but NYC has Brooklyn Grange Farms. Now when I say the “city” in this case I don’t mean Manhattan. In this case, I mean Long Island City – which is indeed part of the NYC.
Brooklyn Grange has the largest rooftop soil farms in the world. Both are located in NYC. Together they comprise a farming area of 2.5 acres. Both farms combined grow over 50,000 lbs of produce a year. In addition to their farms, they provide consulting and installation services.
Their first farm – where these photos were taken – is located on Northern Blvd in Long Island City and their second farm is in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. For a full portfolio of photos please click here. Also, you can enjoy the slide show below:
The event in the photos was a Butcher Paper Dinner consisting of many fresh veggies, corn, chicken, biscuits and pie and more. The food was super-fresh and delicious and we all had a wonderful time. This type of event is tons of fun for the family if you are looking for a very unique special treat.
